About LoveHoonga
LoveHoonga is a review site for AI girlfriend apps. One clear job: help you figure out which one is worth your time and your card details before you sign up.
Who's behind it
Four of us. Two write, one runs the tests, one keeps the site alive and handles email. We're spread across two time zones and we've never had an office. Nobody on the team has worked for an AI companion company, and if that changes, we'll say so on this page.
We started in 2023 because the category was filling up fast and the reviews were useless. Half of them were rewritten press releases. The other half were affiliate pages with a score slapped on top and no evidence. We wanted the boring stuff: what the chat actually feels like after twenty minutes, whether the bot remembers your name on day three, how many images you get before the paywall appears.
How we test
The tester signs up with a real account and pays for at least one month of the tier most people would pick. We use the apps the way you would — long conversations, weird prompts, the same few questions across every platform so we can compare answers. Memory gets checked over multiple sessions, not one sitting. Images and voice get tested on a normal connection. We take notes and screenshots as we go.
When a platform changes something big — a new model, a price hike, a feature quietly removed — we go back and retest. Scores move. That's why we write them as 9.8-style figures pulled from our own database rather than numbers frozen into the text.
Editorial independence
Some links on this site earn us a commission. That's how we pay for the subscriptions we test. It does not buy a score, a ranking, or a kind paragraph. We've written critical things about partners and we'll do it again. The person who tests a platform doesn't negotiate with it, and the person who writes the review doesn't see the commission rate. If we ever can't keep that wall up, we'll tell you.
We don't accept payment for coverage, we don't do sponsored reviews, and we don't publish a score for a platform we haven't paid for and used ourselves.
Corrections
We get things wrong. Prices change, features ship. If you spot something stale or flat-out incorrect, write to [email protected] with the page and what's off. We'll check it and fix it, and we'll note the change at the bottom of the review.
